![]() BCECHS student Alex Sludds has been accepted into the highly competitive Ross Mathematics Program sponsored by Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. The Ross Mathematics Program is an intense eight-week summer course for pre-college students talented in math. Alex received a full scholarship for this summer program.
The participants will explore concepts in number theory, work with mathematical ideas built from concrete observations, and assimilate habits of the mind that will prove useful in the students’ scientific endeavors. In order for Alex to be accepted into the program, he responded to an essay question and completed math problems posed on the application. He also needed to submit his transcript and a letter of recommendation. “We are extremely proud of Alex’s achievement of being accepted into the Ross program. He exhibits the mathematical maturity that the program requires, and he will enjoy meeting like-minded math students from across the country,” said Angela Jordan, calculus teacher at BCECHS.
