VISION
South Brunswick Middle School will be a highly successful school which involves the students, educators, parents and community collaboratively to nurture academic success and produce good citizens who will lead the way to the future.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of everyone at South Brunswick Middle School is to guide students to develop internal motivation for success in a rigorous curriculum so that all students will challenge themselves to reach maximum growth.

South Brunswick Middle School is located in rural southeastern Brunswick County. Students come from beach communities, small towns, and farming areas. These areas include: Boiling Springs Lakes, Southport, Oak Island, Bolivia, Bald Head Island, St. James, Sunset Harbor, and Winnabow. There is a wide range of family income levels served by the South Brunswick Middle School. The school is located in the country with a distance of ten to fifteen miles from most of the student’s home communities. The middle school is adjacent to the high school.

The enrollment of the school is eight hundred and forty five students. The grade levels in the school are six, seven, and eight. At South Middle School we attempt to form positive relationships between students, teachers, administrators, and parents by offering a variety of extracurricular activities. We believe in educating the total person and recognizing the academic, physical, and social needs of the students. There are a variety of enrichment classes, sports, and clubs that allow students to participate in activities that interest them personally.

The South Brunswick Middle Community was very proud that we were selected as a National School to Watch in 2006 and a Super Safe School in 2008. One of the major areas for selection is school climate, which must be positive with students feeling safe and happy within the school environment. This is essential for students to be able to perform their best academically. Members of our staff have been asked to present at local, state, and national level about how we are closing the gap and using innovative teaching methods.
