Uniform Policy Change - August 15, 2012

The Brunswick County Board of Education voted to amend the system's school uniform policy allowing families more flexibility with no added cost. The policy revision came today during the Board retreat.

All students in Brunswick County are required to follow the system's dress code policy; however, a separate school uniform policy only applies to four schools: Belville Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, Town Creek Elementary, and Leland Middle School.

Highlights of the uniform policy revision:

  1. Any solid color polo shirt can be worn.  No stripes.
  2. Polo shirts can have logos on them no larger than a quarter.
  3. Students can choose to wear blue or black jeans or their uniform pants, khaki, navy blue, or black every Friday.

The Board of Education's policy review and revision was in response to feedback from parents and administrators within the four schools. The policy revision does not pose any additional cost to parents whose children attend one of the four schools already required to comply with the uniform policy. The changes simply allow these families more flexibility.
