On behalf of all faculty and staff members, I would like to welcome everyone to Belville Elementary School. Our school has an outstanding reputation, and I am proud to be part of such a wonderful program the past 5 years. Belville is filled with enthusiastic students willing to learn, supportive families interested in their children's education, and a dedicated professional staff committed to providing the students with a quality education. The school's PTO and Parent Advisory Council (PAC) continue to be an important part of positive change that occurs in every grade level. We encourage you to get involved in these two important parent organizations.
As we begin a new school year, communication between the school and its stakeholders is very important. All students will be involved in virtual learning to begin the 2020-21 school year. Teachers will use ZOOM, Google Meets, SeeSaw and Google Classroom to provide daily instruction with students. Teachers will have set daily office hours to conduct virtual parent meetings, complete phone calls, and answer emails/texts. Blackboard ALL call messages will be made weekly to let you know what is happening at school with your child and our student. The Sunday afternoon 5pm call/text/email "Five Things to Know" is a great way to hear what is happening at the school each week. Make sure all of your contact information is updated and correct in Power School.
I encourage you to read with your child every night and have conversations about what they have been learning virtually and in person once students return to the building. Your interest and enthusiasm about school is step number one in the process of having a productive and exciting school year. If you have not yet signed up for Parent Portal, please do so. Parent Portal provides you 24/7 access to your child’s educational progress and allows you to manage your demographic information to help us stay in touch. Even though we face challenges never experienced in public school education, I am looking forward to the 2020-21 school year and seeing students grow academically and socially each day.
Sincerely,
Dr. Rick Hessman, Principal
