• Kindergarten Registration-Class of 2030 is in full swing at all elementary schools. The registration event will continue through April 7, 2017. Kindergarten Open House is Tuesday, May 2, 2017. Open House will include dinner from 5:30pm-6:00pm and orientation from 6:00pm-7:00pm. During this time, BCS will provide nurses for each site as well as ESL services. Transportation officials will be on hand to offer students a chance to ride a bus! All registration information, including required documentation, can be found at

    Welcome to Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary School.  We are the home of the Patriots!  Our school serves about 460 students from the Ash, Calabash, Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach, and Carolina Shores communities.  


    Our mission is to facilitate a quality learning environment that enables our students to be lifelong learners who positively contribute to our society in an ever-changing world. Our vision is that every child will learn and exhibit skills that will prepare them to be lifelong learners.

    Announcement: "Winner of Natioal Safe Boating Contest"


    Third grade student, Marelly Rodriguez won the National Safe Boating contest in Orlando Florida. The contest is sponsored by the United States Power Squadron who's responsibility it is to educate adults and children on safe boating in our waterways. Marelly's poster will be used throughout the nation helping the Power Squadrons achieve their water safety goals. Congratulations Marelly.
