2:00 PM BOE Committee Meetings
Dear Belville Elementary Families,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I hope you are as excited about coming back to a new school year as I am!
First, I would like to introduce myself. For those of you that have not met me, my name is Allison Dixon. I have been blessed to be a part of Belville Elementary for the past three years, serving as the assistant principal. I am proud and honored to now be principal!
I grew up in Ohio and attended Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) for my undergraduate degree. I received my graduate degree in education from Ashland University (Ashland, Ohio). My husband, James, and I moved to the area ten years ago. We have two daughters (Olivia-5 and Billie-1), and two dogs. As a family, we enjoy the pool, the beach, and being outside! Personally, I enjoy exercising and I am an avid Peloton rider. I am also a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan - GO BUCKS!
My goal as principal is to assist and support our talented Belville staff in providing an inclusive environment that celebrates diversity and engages all students in a rigorous curriculum, academically and socially to prepare them for their future. My door is always open. I look forward to seeing veteran sharks and meeting our new ones!
I would also like to introduce Mrs. Mautz, she is returning to Belville as our new Assistant Principal. She taught third grade here prior to serving as Assistant Principal at Leland Middle School. Mrs. Mautz earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Tennessee. She received her masters degree in elementary education at UNC Greensboro and a masters degree in school administration from UNC Wilmington. Mrs. Mautz and her husband have 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-law, and 2 beautiful grandchildren. It goes without saying that she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren in her free time. She is very excited to be a Belville Shark again!
Our Open House will be held on Thursday, August 19 from 4:00-7:00 PM.
At Open House you will not only be able to meet your child’s teachers, you should also be able to get transportation and Parent Portal information. We will have staff located in the cafeteria ready to help you with your child’s bus route information. It is critical that we have the correct address for you on file and in our computer to ensure you have transportation in place as close to the first day as possible. If your address has changed and you have not yet contacted the school to make the change official, your child may not be included on the correct route at the beginning of the year. If you wait to change your information during Open House, it can take up to 10 days to be processed and new bus routes generated. Remember, you will need to provide a current lease, power bill or water bill as official proof of residency documents.
In addition to meeting teachers and other important staff members, Open House is a wonderful opportunity to meet members of our PTO. Our PTO does a great deal to support our school and becoming a member is super simple! Together we can do great things for our school.
Remember, we have many ways we try to communicate with our families. Administration will make a weekly phone call, typically on Sunday evening, with important information about the upcoming week. In addition, news will be posted on our school Facebook page: search Belville Elementary School, “Like” and “Follow” us to keep up with all the news! We also have a webpage that is informational and easy to navigate. Please explore the webpage by starting at the Brunswick County Schools homepage and choosing Belville Elementary School!
It is going to be an exciting year full of wonderful opportunities for your child(ren) to learn and grow, and for you to partner with us to ensure that this school year is one of the best!
Kindergarten parents are invited to Kindergarten University on Tuesday, August 17 at 6PM (please no students, students can come Thursday to meet their teacher).
We look forward to seeing everyone at Open House on Thursday, August 19 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM, and then for the first day of school on Monday, August 23, 2021 (except for Kindergarten which follows staggered entry days, more information to come).
