A Community of Learners


  • The Relay for Life Dance will be held after school on Tuesday April 16th for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students and on Thursday April 18th for kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade students. This dance is sponsored by the JMM Relay for Life Team. All proceeds will go to the Jessie Mae Monroe Relay for Life Team.

    The cost of admission is $5.00 and will include a snack and a drink. We are pre-selling tickets for this event. Tickets must be purchased and permission slips returned before the April 12th deadline. Parents may not write a letter the day of the event for the student to stay after school.

  • The Parent Advisory Council  (PAC) is organized to provide parent input into the operation of our school. It can also serve as a vehicle for obtaining parent reaction to present or proposed school programs. Appropriate topics for discussion are included on the form. Click here to complete form.

    Welcome to Jessie Mae Monroe Elementary School.  We are the home of the Patriots!  Our school serves about 466 students from the Ash, Calabash, Ocean Isle, Sunset Beach, and Carolina Shores communities.  

    Our mission is to facilitate a quality learning environment that enables our students to be lifelong learners who positively contribute to our society in an ever-changing world. Our vision is that every child will learn and exhibit skills that will prepare them to be lifelong learners.

Current Events



    Congratulations to Charles Sherman and Teagan Cossey. Charles and Teagan won first place in the North Carolina Calendar Contest. Teagan will be featured in the month of October and Charles will be featured in the month of January. Charles has back to back wins in this competition and the judges informed us this is only the second time in the contests history that a student had back to back wins. Jessie Mae and Art Room 5160 are Patriot Proud !
