Welcome to Second Grade! It is going to be a fast-paced, fun-filled year. Second grade is so exciting because your little ones will begin to blossom into independent and enthusiastic learners. Although your students will be guided throughout the year, they will be much more involved with the way our lessons go. It is my personal goal to find out the different interests and learning styles in my classroom so that we can have a successful and memorable year. You will find out quickly that I have very high expectations academically and behaviorally of my students, but that I also like to have lots of fun!

About Me
Your children will become part of my family, so let me begin by telling you a little bit about myself. My name is Emily Wood. I've been in Brunswick County for 6 years, after being in Scotland County for 6 years. I am originally from Indiana but have lived in NC for 27 years.  I graduated from Purdue University, and I am beginning my 28th year of teaching.  I have taught 6th, 3rd, 4th and 2nd. I am married to a high school football coach.  I have one son, Cayden, and a cat named Marina.  Teaching has always been a passion of mine and I feel very blessed to have the opportunity to make a difference in a child’s life. Teaching takes up most of my time, but I do have a few hobbies of my own. I love reading, going to the beach, scrapbooking and Friday night football games. I love all kinds of animals!
