From your SMS PTO...Information regarding our PTO 50/50 raffle fundraiser was distributed to A&B day students this week. Check out our PTO Facebook page @shallottemiddle pto or email ptosms@yahoo.com for info. Remote students should contact PTO to receive tickets and info. The fundraiser takes place now through January 31st. Get your tickets and let’s work together to help our amazing Pirate students and staff have a great year. We would LOVE to see a Shallotte Middle family take home a huge cash prize! The more we sell the bigger the jackpot! The student who sells the most tickets wins a spirit basket filled with SMS Pirate gear and restaurant gift cards! Don’t miss your chance to show your Pirate Pride and help your school. As always, PTO thanks you for your ongoing support.

Dear Pirate Family,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Shallotte Middle School! It is our hope that your year(s) at SMS will be the most successful ones for you. It is important that you show a willingness to participate in as many activities as possible to benefit significantly. In other words, get involved, demonstrate a positive and cooperative attitude, and treat others as you want to be treated.
This handbook has been prepared to provide you with some of the information and guidelines contained in the Student Code of Conduct and school policies necessary for the successful operation of the school. Our procedures and regulations have been developed with one thing in mind - the welfare of our students.
By reading this handbook carefully, you will have the best opportunity for success in the coming school year. This handbook is a guide and is not meant to contain all the rules and regulations of the Brunswick County Schools’ Student Code of Conduct.
At SMS, we encourage our students to place high priority on:
The responsibility for a sound education rests with you, the student; however, the entire faculty of SMS is dedicated to providing a curriculum that will assist you in the preparation for today's society. We recognize that each of you has different needs, interests, and aptitudes, and a wide range of personal goals and ambitions. As a result, you can expect a variety of activities in all of your classrooms geared to your needs and abilities.
At SMS, we are all learners and leaders and together we can all make a difference!
Sincerely,
David Ruth
Principal
