MAKING HISTORY: First Cousins Graduate at the Top

The 2018-2019 school year ends with a scenerio you rarely see across the country and one for the record books at North Brunswick High School!

 

The Salutatorian and Valedictorian know each other well.  They are more than close friends.  They are cousins!  We are so very proud of you, Valedictorian Veronda Blue and Salutatorian Angel Johnson! 

The momentous occassion is best described by Veronda's mother, Carolyn... 

 

"First Cousins Graduate at the Top!  Veronda Turquoise Blue and Angel Jaliah Johnson are not twins but grew up sharing each other’s parents and shadowing each other’s life. From the time they were born, they have been playing together, working together, and studying together for the same cause.

 

On Saturday, June 1, 2019 they will celebrate their accomplishments after a long journey together since birth, and will be joining each other on the stage as North Brunswick High School’s Class of 2019 Valedictorian and Salutatorian! They have been on the path to success since middle school to achieve this accolade and have received countless honors and awards, over 50 college credit hours, and much more all while participating in a plethora of extracurricular clubs and multiple sports! THEY DID IT‼️ Making history as North Brunswick’s First Cousins as the Top two.

The Cousins give All Glory to God for their success, and to their supportive family! Veronda is the daughter of Eric and Carolyn Jenkins Blue, and Angel is the daughter of Jeffery and Aldrina “AJ” Johnson of Leland, NC.

After graduation, Veronda plans to attend NC A&T State University to study Agricultural and Environmental Systems (Urban and Community Horticulture). Her career goal is to become a plant geneticist and own a plant lab/nursery and greenhouse where she will breed and grow plants that will be used to improve health issues and the overall quality of life for individuals and families that choose a naturopathic means of healing.

Angel is looking forward to achieving her collegiate goals at Winston-Salem State University to pursue her dream of having a successful future. She is majoring in Biology to pursue a career as a Plastic Surgeon. In the future, after getting her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, she plans to complete her internship in Atlanta and later build a practice in Wilmington, NC near her hometown.

 

Angel

 

Education is important to Blue and Johnson and they plan to continue their successful journeys as they embark upon their college careers. Blue and Johnson have worked extremely hard to achieve the highest rank possible they are still in hopes that they will be rewarded for their academic success and receive enough scholarships to cover their future educational expenses."
