Major Energy Savings in Store for BCS
Construction projects to upgrade various buildings and equipment inside and outside of Brunswick County Schools are finished and the end result is going to save millions of dollars while also helping save the planet.
Brunswick County Schools partnered with Schneider Electric to make major improvements in the district in regards to energy consumption. The district-wide upgrades include everything from energy efficient lights to water conservation to switching some schools from electricity to gas. Numerous transformers were replaced and humidity issues were addressed. The improvements created more than $40,000 in rebates from Duke Energy for energy savings as well. It's quite the lengthy list that results in an estimated 34% reduction in energy spending!!
At last night's Board of Education meeting, Schneider Electric presented the eye popping $23,305,800 in energy savings Brunswick County Schools will have over the next 17 years of this major project between BCS and SE!
