👉 WHAT HAPPENED: (Espanol:http://bit.ly/BCSUpdateEspañol )

On 9/17/2020, Governor Cooper announced that all elementary students(K-5) will be allowed to return to class 5 days a week in October. Middle and High School students must remain in a Plan B or Plan C status. Any decision to change their current status is left up to individual school districts.

During the September 22, 2020 Emergency Meeting, Brunswick County Schools' Board Members unanimously approved opening all K-5 schools to 5 days of face to face instruction. Board Members also unanimously approved a maximum capacity of 48 students on K-5 school bus routes.

This transition will be effective October 5th, 2020 for all A/B Alternating Day elementary school students.

At this time, middle and high schools will continue operating in their current status of A/B alternating days or Full Semester 100% Remote Learning per state mandate.
You can watch the Emergency Meeting via this link:

👉 WHAT'S NEXT:

The deadline to apply to transfer to 100% Face to Face was 9/29/2020.  A/B Alternating Day K-5 students began 5 days Face to Face instruction on October 5th. 5 days Face to Face instruction for K-5 100% Remote Learners who requested transfer to 100% Face to Face began the week of October 20th.  K-5 100% Remote Learners who requested Full Semester and want to stay 100% remote will continue through the end of December.

An application for 2nd semester learning plans will be available soon and announced district-wide.  It will include options to stay in current plan or switch to another available plan for the 2nd semester.

Flu shots will be available to students and staff at scheduled times beginning 10/26.

👉 HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Community Survey: We're putting together a countywide list of open, content-filtered WiFi locations for BCS students and childcare options available for parents on Remote Learning Days. (WiFi locations in Businesses, Churches, Community/Recreation centers)

This list will include contact information and locations so that our students/parents know what is available in their part of the county to aid in remote learning days.
Make sure to bookmark www.bcswan.net/ReopeningInformation and www.bcswan.net/RemoteLearning as they will have helpful information regarding the plans, process, and protocols for the 2020-2021 school year.

BCS COVID-19 DASHBOARD:

We've put together a Dashboard that shows the specific impact of COVID-19 inside the school district. The idea is to simply have a place where the public can go to see what the current situation is inside the district.

Only positive cases and quarantine cases given to us by the Brunswick County Department of Health will be listed on the chart.  Data shown is effective as of 9/21/2020 when students returned to face to face instruction.

📹 VIDEO: We've put together a tutorial on the Dashboard. See link below.
