ATHLETICS UPDATE: Getting Ready for Sports

7/01/2020:  Brunswick County Schools will begin Voluntary Summer Workouts for Athletics no earlier than July 20, 2020.  On June 24th, Governor Cooper extended Phase 2 status through July 17th.  We will use information from state and health officials expected to be announced the week of July 13-17 to determine when it is safe to resume voluntary practices.

Athletic Directors along with school and district administrators have been using this time to obtain the necessary protective supplies and train coaches on new protocols in order to keep student athletics and staff safe as we adapt to the challenges of COVID19.

Some of plans that will be put in place include daily health screenings, disinfecting, informational signage throughout the schools, limited gatherings, and other safety related protocols to ensure proper social distancing and best practices for all participants.

Participation in Summer activities/practices is NOT required for student athletes.  Any changes to athletics will be communicated immediately to the community and our student-athletes.

Additionally, Athletic Registration is currently underway for High School students.  This is the necessary step before any athletic participation can occur.
