BACK TO SCHOOL: 2021-2022 School Year Information

The 2021-2022 School Year is going to be so rewarding as we take what we've learned from the past year and use it to show just how resilient we all are as a Community of Learners!

We'll continue to post information on the 2021-2022 School Year here as the information becomes available.
*All the information below is subject to change should state guidance/requirements be adjusted.

  • Early College High School: The first day of the 2021-22 School Year is August 10, 2021 for Early College High School

  • Traditional Schools: The first day of the 2021-22 School Year is August 23, 2021 for Traditional Schools.

Open Houses:  All times are 4pm-7pm

  • ECHS: August 5
  • The COAST: August 16
  • Traditional High Schools: August 17

LEARNING PLAN:

  • All Brunswick County Schools will resume 100% Face to Face learning for the 2021-22 School Year.
(This is 5 days of In-Person instruction per week)

  • There will not be a Remote Learning Option for the 2021-22 School Year.   A Virtual Learning Survey that gauged the interest in a Remote Learning Plan for the upcoming school year was available to Elementary, Middle, and High School Parents/Guardians in May while school was still in session.
With only 2% of the school community showing interest in a 100% remote learning format, the decision was made to not offer it as an option for the 2021-22 school year unless there is an unforeseen circumstance that deems remote learning necessary.
*All Brunswick County Schools will resume 100% Face to Face learning for the 2021-22 school year.

TRANSPORTATION:

  • If your child needs bus transportation for the 2021-22 School Year and did NOT ride a bus last year, please contact your child's school to register.  This would include 100% Remote/Virtual students and those who had someone else transport them other than BCS.
  • If your child DID ride a bus last year, you do not need to register again.

FACE COVERING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently, schools are operating under the StongSchoolsNC Public Health Toolkit(K-12) which recommends face coverings inside all public school buildings(mandate expired 7/30).  BCS Board Members will soon make a decision on what the 2021-22 School Year Face Covering protocols will be.
As soon as there is new information available in regards to face coverings inside Brunswick County Schools, we will share it with the school community via all our communication platforms including Facebook, Twitter, local media and this webpage.

SOCIAL/PHYSICAL DISTANCING:

  • At this time, there will be no required minimal social/physical distancing measures in place though all schools will continue to practice the additional cleaning protocols that were in place for the 2020-21 School Year.  This includes the new needlepoint bipolar ionization air filtration systems added last year at all locations and in all buses as well as the recommended health and safety protocols, additional custodial staff, and other practices to ensure the safest learning environment possible.

SCHOOL SPORTS:

CURRENT STATE GUIDANCE:  BCS is currently following the guidance from the NC Department of Health and Human Services via their StrongSchoolsNC Public Health Toolkit(K-12)  This information is updated periodically by NCDHHS.  If Brunswick County Schools changes the protocols for Face Coverings and other COVID 19 related guidelines for inside the schools, we will share the information with the school community on all our communication platforms including social media, local media, district website, and a district wide phone call.
