Mr. Joshua Futrell Named Principal of Virginia Williamson Elementary School

BOLIVIA, NC – At Tuesday’s June Meeting of the Brunswick County Board of Education, Mr. Joshua Futrell was approved as the next principal of Virginia Williamson Elementary School. Futrell will replace Ms. Helen Otto as she will retire from Brunswick County Schools.

Mr. Futrell is an assistant principal at Belville Elementary School and has been in that role since 2023. He was previously an assistant principal and athletic director in Wake County Public Schools from 2019-2023.

BCS Superintendent Mr. Dale Cole shared congratulatory remarks on Mr. Futrell’s approval as principal.

“Congratulations to Mr. Joshua Futrell on his approval as the new principal of Virginia Williamson Elementary School! It's a significant accomplishment and a testament to his dedication to education and leadership. I'm sure he'll do an excellent job guiding the school and fostering a positive learning environment for all students and staff,” Cole said.

Futrell has an impressive educational background earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science/Health Education from East Carolina University and a Master of School Administration from North Carolina Central University.

Mr. Futrell shared his excitement about being the next principal at Virginia Williamson Elementary School. Mr. Futrell will serve his first day as principal of Virginia Williamson Elementary School on July 1, 2024
